    What is Vamana?

Vamana is one of the five principal purification procedures of Panchakarma, the classical detoxification and rejuvenation system of Ayurveda. It is a carefully planned and medically supervised therapeutic emesis (induced vomiting) designed to eliminate aggravated Kapha Dosha and accumulated Ama (metabolic waste) from the upper gastrointestinal tract.

In Ayurveda, Kapha is associated with structure, lubrication, stability, and immunity. When Kapha becomes excessive due to improper diet, sedentary habits, seasonal changes, or other factors, it is believed to contribute to heaviness, congestion, sluggish digestion, and other imbalances. Vamana is traditionally used to help restore doshic balance by facilitating the elimination of excess Kapha.

Unlike ordinary vomiting caused by illness, Vamana is a structured therapeutic procedure performed under the close supervision of qualified Ayurvedic practitioners after thorough evaluation and preparation.

    • Eliminating aggravated Kapha Dosha
    • Supporting the body's natural cleansing processes
    • Promoting balanced digestion and metabolism
    • Reducing heaviness and congestion, according to Ayurvedic principles
    • Preparing the body for rejuvenation (Rasayana) therapies
    • Supporting overall health and vitality

Proper preparation is essential to ensure the effectiveness and safety of Vamana.

    Deepana and Pachana
Specific herbal formulations may be prescribed to stimulate digestive fire (Agni) and help digest accumulated Ama before the cleansing procedure.
Specific herbal formulations may be prescribed to stimulate digestive fire (Agni) and help digest accumulated Ama before the cleansing procedure.

    Snehapana (Internal Oleation)

Medicated ghee or herbal oils are administered over several days in gradually increasing quantities. This process helps loosen impurities from the body's tissues and directs them toward the gastrointestinal tract.

    Abhyanga (Herbal Oil Massage)
A full-body massage using warm medicated oils supports circulation, relaxes the body, and assists in mobilizing accumulated impurities.

    Swedana (Herbal Steam Therapy)
Following massage, herbal steam therapy is used to promote sweating, open body channels (Srotas) and prepare the body for elimination.

On the scheduled treatment day, the individual consumes specific liquids or herbal preparations as directed by the practitioner. A carefully selected herbal emetic is then administered to induce controlled therapeutic vomiting.

The procedure continues until the desired therapeutic outcome is achieved according to Ayurvedic guidelines. Throughout the process, the practitioner monitors the individual's comfort, hydration, and overall response.

Because Vamana is a specialized Panchakarma procedure, it should always be performed in an appropriate clinical setting by trained Ayurvedic professionals.

Following Vamana, the digestive system requires gradual recovery.

    Post-treatment care typically includes:

    • A graduated diet beginning with light, easily digestible foods
    •  Adequate hydration
    • Rest and relaxation
    •  Lifestyle guidance
    •  Herbal support when indicated
      Gradual return to normal activities
This recovery phase helps restore digestive strength (Agni) and supports the overall benefits of the therapy.

    Respiratory Wellness

According to Ayurveda, Vamana is traditionally used to help manage excess Kapha affecting the respiratory system and to promote easier breathing.

    Healthy digestion
    Improved appetite
    Balanced metabolism
Reduced sensation of heaviness after meals

Nutrition is an important component of the therapy.
Before treatment, the practitioner may recommend foods that help prepare the body according to Ayurvedic principles.
After the procedure, a graduated dietary regimen (Samsarjana Krama) is followed to restore digestive strength.
    1.  Rice gruel
    2.  Thin vegetable soups
    3.  Mung bean preparations
    4.  Soft cooked rice
    5.  Warm herbal beverages
    6.  Freshly prepared, easily digestible meals

Heavy, fried, processed, cold, and difficult-to-digest foods are generally avoided during recovery.

Our Vamana program is conducted according to authentic Ayurvedic principles with careful attention to safety, hygiene, and individualized care. Every patient undergoes a detailed consultation to assess their constitution, health status, and treatment goals before therapy begins.

Our experienced Ayurvedic practitioners guide you through every stage from preparation and the therapeutic procedure to recovery and lifestyle recommendations ensuring a supportive and professional experience.

We are committed to delivering traditional Panchakarma therapies in a safe and compassionate environment, helping you work toward balance, vitality, and overall well-being.

    What is Virechana?

Virechana is one of the five principal purification therapies of Panchakarma in Ayurveda. It is a controlled therapeutic purgation procedure designed to help eliminate excess Pitta Dosha and accumulated metabolic waste (Ama) from the body through the gastrointestinal tract.

According to Ayurvedic principles, an imbalance of Pitta may affect digestion, metabolism, skin health, liver function, and overall well-being. Virechana aims to restore balance by facilitating the body's natural cleansing process under the supervision of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.

Unlike ordinary laxative use, Virechana is a carefully planned therapeutic procedure. It is performed only after proper preparation and is customized according to an individual's constitution (Prakriti), health condition, digestive strength (Agni), age, and treatment goals.

    • Eliminating aggravated Pitta Dosha
    • Supporting the body's natural detoxification processes
    • Improving digestive efficiency
    • Promoting metabolic balance
    • Supporting healthy skin
    • Encouraging proper bowel function
    • Preparing the body for rejuvenation therapies (Rasayana)

Proper preparation is essential for effective Virechana.

    Deepana and Pachana
Herbal formulations may be used to support digestive fire (Agni) and help process Ama before cleansing begins.

    Snehapana (Internal Oleation)
Medicated ghee or herbal oils are administered over several days to loosen impurities from the tissues and prepare them for elimination.

    Abhyanga (Oil Massage)
A full-body massage with warm medicated oils helps improve circulation, relax muscles, and mobilize impurities toward the digestive tract.

    Swedana (Herbal Steam Therapy)
Herbal steam therapy follows massage to promote sweating, open body channels (Srotas), and further prepare the body for purification.

On the scheduled treatment day, a carefully selected herbal purgative is administered according to the individual's assessment.

The herbal preparation stimulates controlled bowel evacuation, allowing the elimination of excess Pitta and accumulated impurities through the digestive tract.

Throughout the procedure, the practitioner closely monitors the individual's comfort, hydration, and response to treatment.

Following Virechana, the digestive system requires gradual restoration.

    Post-treatment care generally includes:

    • A graduated diet beginning with light, easily digestible foods
    • Adequate hydration
    • Rest and recovery
    • Lifestyle guidance
    • Herbal support when appropriate
    • Gradual return to normal daily activities

    What is Basti ?

Basti is one of the five principal purification procedures of Panchakarma, the classical detoxification and rejuvenation system of Ayurveda. It is a carefully planned and medically supervised therapy in which medicated herbal decoctions, oils, ghee, or other Ayurvedic formulations are administered through the rectal route. According to Ayurveda, this therapy primarily helps balance Vata Dosha, which governs movement, the nervous system, circulation, and many vital physiological functions.

In Ayurveda, Vata is considered the most influential of the three doshas because it regulates the activities of both Pitta and Kapha. When Vata becomes aggravated due to improper diet, stress, aging, irregular lifestyle, or other factors, it may contribute to dryness, stiffness, pain, digestive disturbances, and various functional imbalances. Basti is traditionally used to help restore doshic balance by delivering therapeutic herbal preparations directly into the colon, the principal seat of Vata.

Unlike an ordinary enema used for bowel evacuation, Ayurvedic Basti is a specialized therapeutic procedure designed for detoxification, nourishment, and balancing of the body. It is performed only after proper evaluation and under the close supervision of qualified Ayurvedic practitioners.

    • Balancing aggravated Vata Dosha
    • Supporting the body's natural cleansing processes

    Abhyanga (Herbal Oil Massage)
A full-body massage using warm medicated oils supports relaxation, improves circulation, and helps mobilize accumulated impurities.

    Swedana (Herbal Steam Therapy)

The individual is positioned comfortably, and the prescribed medicated oil or herbal decoction is gently administered through the rectal route using sterile equipment.

The patient is monitored throughout the procedure, and instructions are provided regarding retention time depending on the type of Basti administered.

The therapy is carefully individualized according to the person's constitution, age, strength, and treatment goals.

Because Basti is a specialized Panchakarma procedure, it should always be performed in an appropriate clinical setting by trained Ayurvedic professionals.
Following Basti, appropriate post-treatment care supports recovery and enhances the therapeutic benefits.

It is a carefully planned and medically supervised procedure designed to eliminate *vitiated Rakta (blood)* and associated *Pitta Dosha* from the body using specific Ayurvedic techniques.
